After last night's game against Hereford, Mike Cook gave his thoughts about the red cards given out to two of his players and the penalty awarded to Hereford.
Striker Jake Jackson was given a straight red for his part in a melee. Later Fabien Robert was also sent off after a second yellow card.
Cook felt Hereford's Jordan Cullinane-Liburd should have walked as well.
“I just think he grabbed hold of Jake’s leg and knee but Jake shouldn’t
have reacted and that’s a definite red from Jake but then if he also
stamps and kicks on him personally if that was me refereeing the game, I
would have sent them both off," said the Gloucester manager.
"I think that would have been fair but to give him a yellow was strange to be honest.”
Roberts was booked for challenges on firstly Jared Hodgkiss and later Jordan Nicholson.
“It looked a little bit worse than it was because it was right in front of us. He slid along the floor, the lad’s not really got injured, he picked himself up after five or six seconds, he rolled all over the place but the referee’s come over and given him a second yellow.
“For me I don’t think it was a second yellow. Saying that we’ve got to be a bit more street-wise, we’ve got to be more switched on.”
Hereford's second goal came from a penalty when substitute striker Reece Styche was brought down.
“Styche has fouled Vinny first, bearing in mind Styche is about 17 stone and Vinny (Vincent Harper) is eight stone wet, he’s then pushed him back and then strangely they’ve both fallen over and that’s a penalty, which we find hard to believe.”
