Born near Ebbw Vale, Jones was a product of the Hereford United Youth system. He made his debut away at Doncaster in February 1990. A member of the Welsh Cup winning team in 1990, Jones stayed at Edgar Street until 1992. He later played for Newport and Cinderford.
