Signed by John Newman from Bristol Rovers in 1987. McLoughlin spent two seasons at Edgar Street. His 2nd year he formed a successful striking partnership with Phil Stant. He was sold to Wolves for £45,000 in the Summer of 1989. He later played for Walsall, Mansfield and Forest Green.
