We Expected A Reaction From Hereford Said Gannon

Stockport manager Jim Gannon was interviewed after a game of two halves at Edgar Street yesterday. Stockport were 2-0 ahead at half time but Hereford were the better side in the second period and the result was a 2-2 draw.

"I thought we were really, really good until we got the second goal and then we wanted to play extra passes for some reason," Gannon told the Stockport OS.

"We expected a reaction from them (Hereford), we expected them to make changes especially as they were kicking down the slope towards the home fans.

"But you've got to be manly and stand up to it.

"There are lots of reasons their goals came about but we should have been able to manage the game a bit better."

How do you explain the turn around?

"Second half they changed shape, credit to them.

"They kept the two up front and decided to play a diamond. One or two subs.

"As a team we weren't very good at getting out of our half and keeping the ball in the other half.

"And may be after half time they (Hereford) felt the pressure and had a right go. They got the goal and we needed to stay up and be manly.

"Second half there was a lack of positivity and purpose from some of our players."
