Gowling: Confidence Is Important For A Young Squad

Captain Josh Gowling feels confidence is key amongst the young Hereford squad and they're 'getting there slowly' with results.

The Bulls drew 2-2 with Leamington this afternoon, further distancing themselves from the bottom three.

Going into the game, Gowling said the players knew what to expect.

"We knew what it was going to be like coming here and they're a hardworking team, big and strong," said the former Kidderminster defender.

"Our away form is picking up now, we're starting to move up the table and we're getting a bit more confident which is the main thing.

"There's expectations from the fans especially at this club, I was here when we were in League One so I know what the expectations are like. When the fans see us down there it's disappointing.

"We're disappointed, we want to kick on and we are slowly, we're getting there. Results are getting better, we're getting more confident, we're playing with each other a bit more."

Gowling said that the players are gelling and he feels things are looking better, there's now a buzz around training sessions.

He added: "There's been a lot of changes this season with the club so we're getting together and looking better."

"It's a young squad and when you've got a young squad it's all about confidence. When over the Christmas period we got some results people didn't expect us to, it just gives you that belief and a lift.

"We had a great training session on Thursday, the lads are buzzing around. It's just different, everyone's together - I'm the old man of the group now which is disappointing! We're getting there."
