News Round Up



Tributes have been paid to Nuneaton Borough's president Rex Spencer who has passed away. The club announced the news yesterday, with the 87-year-old watching the team since he was ten. There will be a tribute to him before before Saturday’s home game with Guiseley.

Boston United manager Craig Elliott has admitted the club's hospital visit put the highs and lows of football into perspective. Elliott and three of his players visited the children’s ward last week, handing out gifts to youngsters and having photographs with patients. Elliot told the Boston Standard that even though he feels down after a loss, it is only football.

Chester joint-manager Anthony Johnson has admitted he's learned managers don't have to 'scream and shout about everything'. In two lengthy interviews with Non League Daily, Johnson said that shouting doesn't always work and it's one of the things he's learned.

A Chorley player who was jailed in 2012 for two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and is now facing more time in prison for being caught driving in Manchester twice over the drink drive limit. The Lancashire Post report that 24-year-old Courtney Meppen-Walter, of Rochdale, admitted drink driving at Manchester Magistrates Court, but will have to wait until the new year to learn of his sentence.
