Sevenoaks Bull has sent this in to Bulls News which sums up his thoughts on the current situation at Edgar Street.
I have followed the Bulls for over 40 years, from the days of rising through the leagues to the heady heights of Div 2 ( The Championship for younger readers) and been witness to a few highs and lots of lows, including the day in the High Court, which I suppoorted even though I was a creditor to the old club.
The situation now is almost as depressing; we have a new management team in place who can clearly talk a good game and make great use of football cliches. Yet the results since they started show to me, as a distant observer, that they are struggling despite their ambitious talk.
We have a team of young lads from the youth set ups of higher clubs who, for all their undoubted effort, are just out of their depth. How is it good for their development if they are being hammered every week? I would never expose callow trainees under my supervision to that kind of experience because it can have devastating consequences on the careers of the individuals concerned.
We need to regroup and start again, this time with a properly balanced team, which means a spine of experienced professionals who can use the undoubted talents of the youngsters to best effect. All of our successful teams had that. What I’d give for a Snapper, Chalky or Elmo now!
I never expected this season to be easy, bluntly, I’d have been happy finishing lower mid table. At the current rate though we’ll be lucky to avoid relegation. So please Management team, bite the bullet, swallow some pride and admit to getting it wrong. Then use your network of contacts to secure players of appropriate experience to get us back into a winning groove. We still have time to do it.
Hoping for luck won’t cut it either; you have to make your own luck if you want to succeed, in football or in life in general.
