Marc Richards has been announced as the new Head Coach at Hereford, joining the Edgar Street side from National League South side Gloucester City.
He has previously worked with Tim Harris, Hereford's new Head of Football, at Gloucester where Richards was Harris' assistant.
Richards will take charge of his first game on Saturday when Hereford entertain Welling United in the FA Cup.
Tim Harris said their were four candidates shortlisted for the position, but Richards, a highly respected, intelligent and forward-thinking young man was the best fit.
"We were inundated with excellent applications for this role and drew up a shortlist of four candidates to interview," Harris told the official site.
"All of them were very impressive and had skills which would fit with the new football strategy that the club is moving forward with. However, after lengthy discussions, it was felt that Marc was the best candidate overall and that he would be offered the role. We are delighted he has accepted it.
"Marc is a highly respected coach and an intelligent, progressive, forward-thinking young man. I believe he will prove to be an excellent fit for this football club and for all we are looking to achieve."
Also the Assistant Director of Elite Sport at Hartpury College where Hereford train, Richards has been the Tigers' boss since December, guiding the relegation-threatened side to a mid-table finish last season.
Richards has experience in developing young players all the way through to international level thanks to his time at Hartpury as well as experience in the National League North.
Some players that he's helped that will be familiar with Bulls fans are Jimmy Oates and Mustapha Bundu, as well as Ed Williams at Kidderminster Harriers.
Other names include Ghanaian international, Abdul Majeed Waris, who played in the 2014 World Cup for his country and is currently on loan at Nantes from FC Porto, and David Accam, who has so far been awarded 10 international caps for Ghana and is currently playing for Philadelphia Union in the MLS.
"Marc has a Masters in Coaching Science, a Post Graduate Certificate in Further Education, a BSC (Hons) in Sport & Exercise Science and holds the UEFA A Licence," added Harris."
"He has helped develop many players over the last decade who are now playing professional football."
"Closer to home Marc also featured heavily in the development of Jimmy Oates – who he first met when playing out in Australia – and Mustapha Bundu, two names that will be very familiar to Bulls fans.
Giving his thoughts on his appointment, a delighted Marc Richards told the official site: "I feel extremely honoured and proud to be given the opportunity to join Hereford FC. I cannot wait to get started and am very excited about the potential the club has and the possibilities I believe we can achieve.
"While I am sad to be leaving Gloucester City AFC and would like to thank everyone there for all the support they have given me, quite simply I feel this is an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down."
