Report: Hereford 0 - Truro City 0

Man Of The Match Kieran Thomas Played In Midfield
Hereford will face a long trip down South next Wednesday for an FA Cup replay after this afternoon's Second Qualifying Round tie ended in a goalless draw at Edgar Street.

Hereford's interim management team made four changes to the starting XI that lost 2-0 to Ashton United last weekend, with Billy Murphy, Ryan Green, Jordan Lam and Jennison Myrie-Williams making way for Tom Harrison, Harvey Smith, Marlon Jackson and Lance Smith.

Attacking a rather sparsely populated Meadow End, Truro had a couple of early chances to take the lead, but Martin Horsell was rarely troubled. In the second minute Jordan Liburd conceded a corner as he dispossessed Jarred Lewington as he tried to break into the box, with Alex Hartridge heading the ball well over.

Moments later a chance fell for Jon-Paul Pittman, but his athletic overhead kick would've been impressive had it gone in, but again, it was well off target.

Playing in a defensive-midfield role, Keiran Thomas was upended as he broke forward, resulting in a free kick to the Bulls in a decent position. Jamie Bird stepped up and stung the hands of visiting keeper JoJo Wollacot with his effort from 35-yards as Truro's defence reacted quickly to clear the immediate danger.

Thomas then managed to get the ball in the back of the net for Gareth Davies' side, but a foul on the keeper from Marlon Jackson seconds before saw it ruled out. As Greenslade crossed the ball into the box, a number of bodies went up to try and connect, but as Wollacot went down, Keiran Thomas stabbed the ball across the line.

With the game still goalless, Keiran Thomas was again involved in the build up to a decent chance for the Bulls to take the lead, but it seemed he did not have the confidence to pull the trigger after creating enough space for himself to get a shot away. Instead, Thomas laid the ball off to Marlon Jackson who forced the keeper into diving down low to deny his right-footed strike out of the back of the net.

On one of the rare attacks from Truro, also known as the White Tigers, Connor Riley-Lowe crossed the ball into the box, but striker Jarred Lewington fired well over with Horsell untroubled.

Before the half was out, Lance Smith saw his well-struck shot take a deflection, but the keeper was equal to the effort, diving to his left and managing to hold onto the ball.

The first chance of the second half came from Hereford, with Keiran Thomas sending a powerful effort just wide of the post.

Two chances then came from the visitors in the space of two minutes. First of all Jon-Paul Pitman's weak effort was straight at Horsell before Alex Hartridge headed just over the crossbar from a corner after getting the better of Danny Greenslade.

As the interim managers looked to a youthful bench, Lance Smith, who had been struggling with a knock from last weekend, made way for Lewis Hall.

Marlon Jackson was still searching for a goal on his debut and came close on the hour mark. After substitute Lewis Hall teed-up the former Newport County man, but he could only send his shot from a tight angle wide before being replaced by Jennison Myrie-Williams.

Truro then had probably their best chance of the game as Martin Horsell missed Noah Keates' free-kick, before Harvey Smith was fouled as he headed the ball off the line.

Wollacot was having a good game in goal for Truro and this continued when he rose to pushed Jamie Bird's cross-come-shot away to safety.

And A Yellow Card For Truro's Captain
But at the other end of the pitch there was a little confusion when Jamie Richards went down in the box holding his head after Mike McGrath seemingly went in with his arm. After receiving treatment the referee gave a drop-ball and let Hereford off the hook.

A head injury to Jordan Cullinane-Liburd led to a lengthy stoppage in the last five minutes of the game, although not as bad as it could've been, he was replaced by Callum Sainty as Hereford's captain went to see the club doctor.

Sainty proved his weight in gold as a superb goal-line clearance in the 89th minute kept Hereford's FA Cup dream alive for a little bit longer. After Martin Horsell managed to parry an initial effort, Sainty came to the rescue to deny Connor Riley-Lowe's tap-in at the back post.

A handful of chances in some eight minutes of added time saw the Bulls almost avoid the midweek replay, but Mike McGrath couldn't find the winner with two decent attempts on goal. The first from 18-yards was just saved by the keeper towards the bottom corner before with the last kick of the game he fired wide.
