Fans Demand Success Said Watts

Hereford FC general manager James Watts gave an interview to BBC Hereford and Worcester this afternoon after manager Peter Beadle was sacked earlier today.

In particular he spoke about the route ahead.

"There's been a lot of talk about part-time and full-time and this is going to be a very important season for the club and how it progresses.

"Structure of the club off the field may need to change and the managerial structure.

"It's about how this club can progress forward and how we can get back to the football league.

"At the moment with the way this league is a completely different league to where we've played and the standard and the structure is a lot higher so the board had to look at what's happened in recent weeks, the results, the performances.

"It's a long-term plan of the club, the club has had stragety meetings in the past, the club has had advice from people external to the club about where it needs to go.

"We have a business plan of how the club will get back into the football league and that at this time has become quite crucial for us as this is one of the first times the club has been under pressure with the results and performances.

"It's a long-term decision, nothing bad to say about Peter at all, we thank him for all of his hard work, three promotions, a Wembley final, but the board of directors felt that it was the right time to make the decision and move forward.

"There is a great deal of expectation around the football club, it was a football league club in Hereford United days.

"Fans demand success. I've been at the club a year and I've picked up on that. They want success, they demand success.

"We would want to be aiming for the play-offs this year. That's always where we want to be.

"We're a big club, we've got 1700 supporters that have bought season tickets, we have regular crowds of 3000.

"We are going to be a big attraction to managers not only in the south but in the north.

"It was a big sort of shift for the club when we were put in the national north. It's changed our view on things.

"Previously the players were southern based, the league was southern based.

"We're open to see what happens.

"We've already had applications, we'll have a lot. There'll be good managers in there.

"But this won't be rushed. There will be a process that takes place. The fans can be assured that the right people will be put in place as we try to to drive Hereford FC forward for our play-off push this year and obviously on our push towards the football league which is the club's overall aim."
