We Need To Be More Creative Said Beadle

Pete Beadle said that his side need to create more chances, despite beating Royston Town 2-0 at Edgar Street this afternoon.

The Bulls boss praised his side for the way they dealt with the threat from set pieces, but says they weren't purposeful enough up front.

Beadle said: "Their main threat today was from set pieces, their throw-ins, corners and free kicks and we coped with those superbly well. If I had any gripes with the boys today it would've been in the final third.

"With the amount of possession we had in the final third, but we didn't create enough chances. It wasn't fluent enough and maybe we weren't creative enough or purposeful enough but it was a really good solid performance today.

"We knew what we were up against and they're a good side. They're well drilled, they work well and organised. They've had a few changes lately but they're challenging for the play-offs. They won their league last year and it was always going to be tough, but the boys did well and played with purpose.

"The four wider players were really influential for us today, but in the final third we lacked a cutting edge. We had enough chances to win it by a few more, but when you think about how much possession we need to work harder to create a few more chances."

Lance Smith worked hard throughout the game, scored the first and was involved in the build up to the second.

"Sometimes we ask him to slow down a little bit, every now and again he overruns the ball and it's just pure willingness to do well. But his willingness today got us the second goal with his enthusiasm to chase down a lost cause.

"He then had the presence and calmness to roll it back to Rob [Purdie] who took a touch and pop it in the back of the net. We needed the second goal as well because it could've been quite nervy towards the end with just the one goal lead."

Back to the league standings, Beadle isn't worried about King's Lynn who are hot on Hereford's heels.

"At the end of the day, what they do is irrelevant, it's all about what we do. We know that if we win all of our games, then we can't be caught - simple as.

"When we get back after a game and you hear the results and if they've had a particularly poor result it's good for us. But I don't expect them to slip up now, they're strong, full of experience and they're the best team we've played this season.

"But I'm not interested in what they're doing at the minute, I'm only interested in what we do."
