Independent Regulator For English Football?

Paul, a Blackpool supporter, wants to see an independent regulator introduced for English football.

Below he explains why.

Tom Barkhuizen celebrates a goal with Delroy Facey At Edgar Street
My nephew (Tom Barkhuizen) played for the Bulls on loan a while back and I used to chat with Bulls fans quite regularly.

You may be aware of the situation Blackpool Fc, along with many more other clubs have regarding the stewardship and ownership of football clubs.  We have had an ongoing battle with the Oystons for a number of years, which resulted in BFC fans being sued by the Oystons over comments made - and eventually proven during a high court battle.

We have been canvassing the EFL for them to look into the affairs of unscrupulous owners (not just at BFC) in order to ensure that clubs are not driven into financial ruin in the future. As a side note, the money we gained by being in the Premier League for a season has been removed from the club by the owners - all that changed was the club got some new sprinklers!!

The lack of meaningful response from the EFL has lead to us setting up a petition to the government to establish an independent regulator for English football, basically to call to task the EFL and to be charged with ensuring the highest possible standards of governance for ALL clubs

In order to do this, we need 100,000 signatures from football fans/anyone to have the petition tabled in government.

This petition is meant to safeguard all football clubs, now and in the future.

1.  As a football fan, I would like to ask you all to read more info from Blackpool Supporters trust here - More Info

2.  please sign the petition here - Parliament Petition
Up the Bulls and good luck for the rest of the season

Paul
