Preview: Hereford vs Dagenham and Redbridge

Ben Chilman previews today's game:

This afternoon Hereford face National League side Dagenham and Redbridge in the first round of the FA Trophy at Edgar Street.

With this being the fourth all-pay fixture since the beginning of November, and Christmas being just around the corner, the attendance is expected to be considerably lower than Thursday night. The Bulls were watched by an impressive 4,235, with the match also being broadcast on BT Sport.

The Bulls bowed out of a cup competition for the first time this season with the 2-0 defeat. Two very similar corners produced two headed goals for Fleetwood captain Cian Bolger with the league one side showing their class. While the Whites created chances in an open game Fleetwood had large periods of possession and found time and space on the ball too often.

The Bulls pressed The Cod Army right to the end with John Mills free kick going just inches wide. Calvin Dinsley had a handful of ambitious shots as the second half progressed, but the home side were beaten in the air to often and lacked creativity in midfield. However, the Bulls walk away with a sizeable earning from an impressive cup run in which they have exceeded all expectations.

Hereford return to the FA Trophy after narrowly beating Oxford City 2-1 in the last round. The Bulls will again haveElliot Richards cup tied and will be without Adam Page as his loan has ended early and the winger has returned to Cheltenham.

Midfielder Rob Purdie is hoping to be back in the squad this Sunday with Cameron Pring also back in contention after being cup tied early this week. Pete Beadle will be hoping to field a strong XI against the side two leagues above.

Dagenham and Redbridge play in the National League and currently sit fifth, four points of the top with a game in hand. The Daggers are in fine form with four wins on the bounce and have recently changed formation which has helped sure up their defence.

At the other end of the pitch the Daggers have a rather free scoring team with the second highest goal tally in the league. Strikers Corey Whitely, number 25, and Morgan Ferrier, number 10, have both contributed eight goals each this season.

The prize money and chance to play at Wembley will be very appealing to the East London side. As a result, a strong team will surely travel to provide a stern test for the Bulls.
