After Hereford's 4-1 win over Basingstoke this afternoon at Edgar Street, assistant manager Steve Jenkins spoke to the local media.
"It was important to get that victory on the back of last weekend," said Jenkins.
"It's been quite a long week to be honest especially with all that went on on Monday. It was good to get back on the grass.
"A good result and a good performance in what was potentially a difficult afternoon. We made it look quite easy.
Eliot Richards started his first game for Hereford alongside Calvin Dinsley.
"When you think he hasn't played for four weeks, international clearance and being cup-tied, he showed some great touches. As you can see he has a lot of quality. In that final third he can make things happen. He did really well."
Basingstoke scored after just six minutes.
"You always talk about having a fast start, sometimes you have to give the other side a little bit of credit as they started the game really well and caused us a few problems from set play and then got their goal.
"In terms of us a great response but also our reaction was great."
Has it been difficult to keep players focused given the FA Cup and FA Trophy games?
"Not really. In training on Thursday we talked about things but you could see the intensity was there, the focus was there so we had no doubt that they would be switched on today."
Results went Hereford's way this afternoon with shock defeats for Slough, King's Lynn and Tiverton.
"Slough came off the FA Cup this week and obviously had a reaction to it.
"Even though sometimes you don't want to focus on other teams, we focus on what we do, but we did look at the fixtures today and thought everyone will get a result. So when you least expect it, it helps but our priority is ourselves. If we look after ourselves we want be too far away."
It's back to the FA Cup on Thursday with the replay against Fleetwood. Reminded that he was dancing with manager Peter Beadle after Hereford scored, Jenkins replied "I wouldn't say dancing".
"I jumped up and down when we scored!
"It's going to be more difficult than the first game. We are under no illusions, it's going to be a really difficult night but it's going to be a fantastic occasion.
"Hopefully a full house under the lights which you can not beat, the atmosphere is going to be electric and the boys will focus on it now for the rest of the week. We've got four or five days now to really look at it and come up with a game plan to go and win the game.
"It's going to be a great occasion and hopefully we'll get the right result."
Fleetwood lost 2-0 at Wigan this afternoon.
"We've got a lot of momentum at the moment as a group, the feeling the boys are in a good place and although they've lost today, it's an FA Cup tie and anything can happen. And we've seen that throughout the years.
"We've just got to focus on us, prepare right and we'll give it a good go. Hopefully we'll get what we want."
Several players failed to make the bench today such as Garyn Preen and Cameron Pring. Any reason?
"No, it's one of them now as we've got a really strong squad and like again we talk about these situations when we need everybody, it's all about the squad now, not just about the eleven or the sixteen.
"It's about everybody, it's not always about the individual, it's about us as a group. And we've got a really hectic time for games coming up, not just this month but January is virtually Saturday, Tuesday and some of those Tuesdays are really long journeys. We are going to need everybody.
"It's about maximising, utilising, trying to get that balance in terms of everybody and that's what we're doing. There will be changes quite often I would image even though you want to keep that consistancy."
Jenkins was pressed whether there would be changes for Thursday from this afternoon's starting eleven.
"Who knows, I know but who knows!
"Eliot Richards is cup-tied for both (Cup and Trophy) and Cameron Pring is cup-tied for the FA Cup."
