Hereford FC Historian Ron Parrott has been delving into the past about facts connected with the FA Cup.
"FA Cup fever has hit Hereford again!" Ron told BN.
"There’s something magical
about it and I’ve been inundated lately with queries about past
performances and how many times we’ve reached specific rounds etc.
"This
culminated in an interview at Edgar Street yesterday with Sky Sports,
along with Rob Bullock, discussing the FA Cup, our past performances and
prospects for Fleetwood etc. It's hoped it will be going out in
roughly a three-minute slot on Sky Sports’ Gillette Soccer Saturday
programme between 1300hrs and 1330hrs this Saturday.
"Apparently, they
asked for Rob and I because we are the two oldest codgers the Club could
think of!
"Anyway, for the record, since our formation in 1924, these are the FA Cup hurdles we’ve fallen at:-
Extra-Preliminary Round – 4
Preliminary Round – 6
1st Qualifying Round – 5
2nd Qualifying Round – 1
3rd Qualifying Round – 2
4th Qualifying Round – 4
1st Round Proper – 26
2nd Round Proper – 22
3rd Round Proper – 8
4th Round Proper – 8
"So, after 93 years of trying and eight appearances in the 4th
Round, we have still to fulfil our dream of reaching the dizzy heights
of the Fifth Round i.e. the last 16."
