Performance Was Spot-On Said Beadle

Tiverton Keeper Watches As John Mills's Penalty Flies Past Him
Following his sides 1-0 win over Tiverton this evening, Hereford manager Peter Beadle gave his thoughts on the game.

"We were solid throughout," said Beadle.

"We kept them down to one shot on target, no corners, credit to the players I thought they were fantastic tonight.

"I thought they were good on Saturday!

"We go back about it, sometimes you get caught up in the moment a little bit.

"On reflection over the weekend we didn't play badly on Saturday  just gave away some really poor goals.

"Tonight everyone from Horsell in goal to the two boys up top, defensively they were great, attacking they were great, just lacked a little bit of quality in the final third at times.

"I think we throughly deserved the win. To keep a side like Tiverton down to zero corners and one shot is no mean feat."

Tiverton appeared to come with a game plan, at times they had five across the back with three centre-halves.

"They played three last year, I think someone said they played four on Saturday because they had a few missing. They had a few back tonight.

"He's old school Martyn (Tiverton manager), he gets his players organised, well-drilled, they work hard for him. We didn't expect anything other.

The Two Managers Before Kick-Off
"I think the way they played they were waiting for us to make a mistake.

"For a change it was nice not to make one ,we looked pretty solid throughout.

"One thing we have to improve on is when we have that much possession, we've had plenty of entries in the final third and plenty of balls in the box but they weren't balls of real quality. That's the improvement we are looking for.

"But the performance tonight was spot-on, every single player was fantastic and they'll go home with an arm around them tonight rather than cotton wool in their ears probably!"

The game was won by Hereford when James Bowen put a quality ball into the box for Pablo Haysham who was then brought down by a defender.

"At first I didn't think the referee was going to give it, I thought it looked minimum contact but the referee was adamant. But it was a great piece of play.

"We were trying to push James on a bit in the first half and the same in the second half as they stuck a player on Jimmy (Oates). They obviously knew we're quite strong on that side so they had a somewhat lopsided midfield so James was our outlet.

"He had plenty of ball but we were trying to push him into that final third and the one time he did drive in there Pablo made a great little run off him.

"James has got great quality but him and Jimmy need to improve on balls into the box but the one ball he did slip him had perfect weight and Pablo took it in his stride and eventually the defender had to bring him down."
