West End Comedy Show to hit Hereford

In exactly four weeks time a laugh-a-minute extravaganza will be on offer at The Hereford Suite, Edgar Street thanks to ’Just Like That! The Tommy Cooper Show.

By arrangement with The Tommy Cooper Estate and Vicky Cooper, Hambledon Productions and the Museum of Comedy will be proudly presenting the show at the Hereford Football Club stadium on Friday, March 31 from 7:30pm.

Written by and starring John Hewer, the show follows sell-out successes at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a 16-week residency at the Museum of Comedy and a guest-appearance on The Alan Titchmarsh Show.

Just Like That! is a wonderful homage to the UK’s best-loved comedian of all time, whose impeccable timing, love of slapstick and quick-fire gags made him an international star.

Commemorating more than 30 years since his death, this all-capsulating show of magic, music and mirth is the perfect celebration of an undisputed icon of live entertainment.

Including his trademark fez and a plethora of misfiring magic, the show features all of Tommy’s classic gags combined with lesser-known gems that have been lovingly selected from his joke archive and extensive magic routines.

Tommy’s daughters, Vicky, said: “It’s an incredible honour that my father is being remembered 30 years on through the spirit of this wonderful production. If Tommy were floating around here today he would have loved the fact that he was still bringing laughter into people’s lives.”

John Hewer, who also appeared in Hambledon Productions’ Hancock’s Half Hour as Tony Hancock, and plays the man in the fez says: "People can expect two hours of solid family entertainment - music, magic and, of course, plenty of Tommy’s signature buffoonery.

"For hardcore Cooper fans and lovers of comedy alike, the show is a must as we delve into his vast catalogue of material and come up with some hidden gems as well as his sure-fire hits.

"Tommy was a comic genius, a true icon of the 20th century, and it’s an honour to be bringing his timeless sense of mischief to old and new audiences."
