The possibility of referees having body cameras is to be discussed during a meeting of the FA's referee committee next Monday.
It comes after some grass-root referees have said they will strike this weekend mainly because they are said to be fed up with abuse directed at them.
The FA have recently appointed a new 'Respect' manager, Nathan French, after former chairman Greg Dyke decided the position wasn't needed.
According to the Telegraph the idea of a body camera is being supported by Mike Cairns, a former Premier League official.
"It is an excellent suggestion," he said.
"Why not allow referees to
submit digital evidence? Players and officials would certainly think
twice if their actions and words were recorded."
