Shortwood United Congratulate Hereford FC and its Fans

A letter was sent to Martin Watson today from Shortwood United, congratulating the Club and its fans for the welcome shown to their players, supporters and officials, following their match at Edgar Street yesterday.

Jim Cunneen published the letter on their website:

"Firstly congratulations on the thoroughly deserved win yesterday!
We could have asked no more of our players who gave everything but your win was no more than you deserved!

Secondly – may we as a club thank Hereford for their fine hospitality and welcome that Hereford showed our supporters, players and officials – the whole afternoon was a pleasure and the organisation that went into our afternoon was excellent.

I would also like to thank your fans who despite passionately getting between their side showed respect to us and the warmth of applause given to our team at the end showed a real appreciation of our efforts.

I also appreciated the comments in the programme giving us credit for the welcome you received when you came to us – that was very gratifying to all of us here at the Wood.

I would be grateful if you could pass this on to your fans and officers - as I will pass it on to the league. All to often people are quick to criticise and slow to praise.
Good luck for the rest of the season and it is nice that friendship exists in the world of football"
