Hereford to Face Romulus in Next Round

Sporting Khalsa were knocked out of the FA Cup yesterday by higher graded Sutton Coldfield based Romulus.

Hereford face an away tie against the Roms on September 3rd.

The Northern League Division One South side ground share at Sutton Coldfield's 2,000 capacity Coles Ground, which has a 3G playing surface.

The furthest they have ever progressed in the competition was in 2006/7 and 2008/9 when they reached the 2nd qualifying round.

Here's a short summary from Sporting Khalsa's official website on their 2-1 loss against Romulus:

Khalsa’s dreadful start to the 2016-17 campaign continued with an exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Romulus.

Despite Dave Meese‘s goal on 40 minutes reducing the arrears after a quick-fire double by Eddie Santos and Malachi Farquarson, Khalsa were unable to grab and equaliser.

The second half saw Khalsa hit the woodwork through Meese and Craig Bannister, while Romulus substitute Charisma Agbonlahor struck the frame of the goal with an excellent curling shot.

The defeat means Khalsa have now tasted defeat in their last three games since their victory in the FA Cup extra-qualifying round at Hanley Town.
