Jamie Willets heads the ball away in his first game in a Hereford shirt Heanor Town away, Saturday 5th September at Heanor Town |
Hereford defender Jamie Willets has said how it still doesn't feel real that the Whites will play under the arch in May.
“It’s so amazing that Hereford have reached Wembley and it’s a dream for me," Willets told the Kidderminster Shuttle
“The feeling still hasn’t sank in, it’s still a little surreal.
“There are countless fantastic players who have never played in a cup final at Wembley and here I am, playing at the level I do, who will hopefully get a chance.
“I remember watching Kidderminster Harriers at the FA Trophy Final in 2007. I was only a teenager and I was gutted when they lost to Stevenage but to go back as a player is amazing.”
Willets moved from Stourport Swifts to Hereford back in September:
“I played against Hereford for Stourport Swifts at the start of the season and it wasn’t an easy decision for me to leave because I had so many friends there.
“I liked playing for Stourport and it took me four weeks to move on but it was definitely the best thing to do.
“The Hereford fans have simply been incredible.
“When Hereford United went out of business they simply wanted a club to call their own and I truly believe they’d have come out in big numbers for a Sunday League side if it represented Hereford.”
And what about the title race?
“I know some Hereford fans thought it was going to be easy to win the league but I knew it would be very tough.
“Alvechurch brought in the team from Tividale, who won this league two years ago and I always thought that they would get close to 100 points.”
