Speaking to BBC Hereford and Worcester after Saturday's FA Vase 1-0 victory over Salisbury, Hereford manager Peter Beadle admitted that although his team won the game the lead was 'slender'.
"We have a very slender lead but I thought we just shaded it," said Beadle.
"We always knew that no matter what the score was today it was never going to be over. We've got a really tough game going down there next week.
"It's fantastic to have the lead and go there knowing we've given ourselves a great chance by getting our noses in front.
"I think after their second half performance they'll go back thinking they've got a chance because I thought they put us under a bit more pressure second half and we didn't cope so well with it.
"But I thought we deserved it and if we could have got another goal it would have been even nicer but it wasn't to be.
"The mission before the game was to win, which we've done and kept another clean sheet and next week we'll try and do the same thing, try and win the game.
"We played much better, much more fluent first half without creating any real good chances.
"We spoke at half time about upping the tempo of our forward play, making it a bit quicker and our full backs and wide men taking a bit more care on the ball.
"And that's where the goal came from, Jimmy took a bit more care, a better quality of cross and Muss has got himself on the end of it."
Late in the game a save from Martin Horsell kept Hereford in the lead.
"A top drawer save, I was disappointed how it came about but fortunately for us Martin was ready and able and did what he is paid to do.
"I think second half too many of us made poor decisions defensively but it's a big occasion with almost 5,000 people here and there is so much at stake for the players and the club."
Beadle was asked about Pablo Haysham's disallowed goal.
"I didn't see it too clearly. Obviously you could see he led with his arm. I was more disappointed, and their bench was the same, the referee consulted the linesman and he said yes it was (handball). If that's the case why didn't he flag, because the referee had given the goal although he said to me at half time he didn't give the goal, he did, he was walking back to the halfway line and then he came over and started checking with the linesman.
"The linesman if he had seen it, they are miked up and they've got a flag in their hand so either way he should have done something about it. Handball or put his flag up but he didn't.
"It's an interesting decision but he (Haysham) said it was handball so it wasn't to be so it was the right outcome in the end."
