I Thought We Deserved It Said Beadle

Peter Beadle With Mustapha Bundu After The Final Whistle
In his post match interview at Highgate, Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle said he felt the victory was deserved. Two goals in extra time sealed it for the Bulls.

"It was a hard fought victory but I thought we deserved it," said Beadle.

"I thought we were excellent tonight.

"Obviously they've beaten us twice in the league so we knew it was going to be tough and they're big, strong and physical and they work extremely hard and they are organised so always tough to break down.

"But I thought some of our play was excellent, I thought we showed a real courage to battle and fight for the set pieces in our box and we had to scrap a bit at times to keep them out.

"In possession we did well without really threatening, I thought we tried to walk it in too much.

"Then finally we got the breakthrough, fantastic piece of play and John (Mills) tucked it away nicely, exactly what he needed.

"And then the second goal killed the game off but I thought we throughly deserved it.

"I thought we were excellent tonight, every single player was spot on tonight."

Interviewed by Terry Goodwin for BBC H&W, Beadle was asked about the composition of the squad for this game.

"We made eight changes and the team was very similar to that that played these in the league a couple of weeks ago so it has put that thing to bed about strength in depth.

"We've got strength in depth as they showed to night as I thought that tonight was as good as we've played for different reasons.

"We played excellent on Saturday but this was a different type of game with different opposition and I thought tonight we were as good as we've been for a long time in the fact that we just stuck in there, we ground it out and we worked hard and we battled, fought and scraped and it was just pleasing to get that result."

With the game going to extra-time it all adds to the pressure.

"It does but it changes our session for Thursday. It will be more about recovery and preparation for Saturday.

"We'll go through some stuff and we'll talk about it. It's not that the lads need to train, we're fit, we're three quarters of the way through the season, we've played fourty games already.

"It's not like we need fitness, we just need to make sure we've got some technical details right and we're prepared and ready for the game on Saturday."

Martin Horsell In The Wars
Beadle was asked about the injury to keeper Martin Horsell who had treatment after he clashed with a Highgate player in the first half.

Captain Dylan Bonella Comforts Sirdic Grant
"Martin took a nasty whack to the face but Sirdic was cramp, Robbo was cramp, Joe got a bit of a bang on the hip but some of these lads like Sirdic have played a lot of games but not so many for us recently but tonight to give him as long as we did was perfect and he showed what he was about and I thought he was excellent.

"I thought the back five were exceptional, three lads in the middle of the park, James, Tony and Dylan were fantastic and the three lads up top were great throughout the game, they were a constant threat.

"So as I said I'm really pleased at what they've done tonight."

All eyes on Saturday now.

"Yes we've put this one to bed now so we can prepare properly for Saturday. Tonight they've given me a few headaches because I've got in my mind who I would like to go with on Saturday but after tonight that might change a little bit but I don't mind that at all.

"So we'll get ready, we'll be prepared and as I said before if we play anything like and battle like we did tonight then it's going to take a real big performance from them to get a result.

"But we've got to make sure we're ready and I'm sure we will be.

"The lads they'll look forward to this and hopefully really play for the occasion and put on a performance which I know they are capable of."
