Hereford FC has today released the following statement ahead of the FA Vase Semi-Final First Leg against Salisbury on Saturday 12 March, 2016:
During the FA Vase Sixth Round tie against Camberley Town on Saturday 20 February, a smoke bomb was ignited and thrown in the Meadow End.
As a result of this, the Football Association (FA) requested a comprehensive response to the incident from Hereford FC.
This led to two full days of evidence gathering at the club – including a review of CCTV footage – and the compilation of a 4,000 word document to respond to the FA.
They will also now be sending a FA advisor on crowd control to the Salisbury game tomorrow, who will be observing the club’s actions and the actions of the crowd before, during and after the match.
In addition, at significant cost to the club, we were advised to upgrade the stadium CCTV system, replacing the existing cameras with high definition models to increase the range of the view. This has been done.
We cannot overstate how seriously the FA treat incidents like the one that occurred at the Camberley game, and that they have a wide range of punishments available to them if further incidents occur.
Hereford FC, similarly, will not hesitate to take action against any individual who acts in a way that not only costs the club thousands of pounds, but also tarnishes the good reputation we all want to build.
