Beadle: We Didn't Deserve To Win

Speaking with the press after last night's 1-0 win over Loughborough, Hereford manager Pete Beadle was disappointed with his side's performance.

"We probably got something tonight we didn't deserve tonight," Beadle told BBC H&W's Trevor Owens.

"I thought they were far better than us, they were brighter than us, they were sharper than us, and we were just not at the races.

"It was definitely a case of after the Lord Mayor's show, it's not acceptable, it's just not good enough. We dodged a bullet and certainly didn't get what we deserved.

"We didn't deserve to win that tonight.

"We never got going and they dominated the game in the way they played, how bright they were.

"We gave them the incentive in the first ten minutes with some really poor play from throw-ins back to our back four who dilly-dallied on the ball and gave them a sniff.

"Then we end up on the back foot and playing most of the half in our half of the pitch.

"We gave them the incentive and never really clawed it back."

When questioned about the effectiveness of the wingers, Beadle admitted that they, along with others, have had better games:

"Our wide men have not been quite at the races for a couple of weeks now. The first game here in the semifinal, or the second leg of the semifinal until the second half when they came alive a bit, and tonight again.

"But it's not just them, there's plenty of people over the pitch today that went through the motions."

After the joyous scenes at Salisbury on Saturday, tonight's game was about getting back to league business, but that was difficult against a full-time outfit.

"These (Loughborough) are the worst opponent we could've had, because they're full time, they're well organised.

"We beat them 5-0 at their place, I thought that flattered us for a little bit on the day because for an hour it was quite a close game. They just buckled a little bit towards the end and we managed to take advantage of that.

"I'm glad the (Hereford) fans appreciated them (Loughborough) going down and clapping them, because I thought they were excellent tonight, they made us look average.

"We never threatened their keeper at all really, he had one save in the first half but it was offside outside of that I'm struggling to think of a save he actually made.

"I think we got lucky with one that came from a corner to the edge of the box and Joe (Tumelty) got a good strike off and it hit the bar.

"From beginning to end tonight we were nowhere near good enough, and that's the end of it.

"There's no polishing it or anything like that, we weren't good enough."
