HUST Could Help UITC

During an interview after last Thursday's HUST SGM with Chris Williams, currently a board member, the subject of UITC, United In The Community, was brought up.

"We would look at UITC and we would help them as much as we can," Williams told BN.

"I think the change they have gone through over the last twelve months has been phenominal.

"They seem to be a much better outfit than certainly the years previous to that.

"There is a concern over finance I believe, I don't know that for a fact, but by rumour I understand that finances are quite tight.

"I have a good relationship with Nic (Vaughan), the chairman of UITC.

"I know that Jon Hale, chairman of the football club, myself as chairman of the Trust and Nic have had meetings in the past and it's a case of working together to see where it takes us.

"On a level, I don't know what the financial situation of UITC is and I wouldn't be privy to that."

BN - Have UITC approached the football board for help?

"No," replied Williams.

Finally the interview turned to William's own position with HUST.

"The last time I was elected was twelve months ago and I was elected for a two year term.

"Until tonight I was the current chairman of HUST, a job I've really enjoyed doing. Unfortunately we have had six months of doldrums whilst the election has taken place.

"We have a new board now and it's my job as an elected board member to work with them.

"Our first meeting we will decide (the chairman) and it's not within my gift to give it to myself but I'd certainly like to do it for at least another twelve months and see where it goes from there.

"My approach will be to ask the board their opinion before I actually say I'd would like to be chairman.

"What I have done is that I've created a seies of nine jobs that need to be done. They are subject areas and I've tried to match it will the skills we've got on the new board.

"I'm hoping people will step up and say I quite fancy doing that because it fits their skills set and then we can start to take things forward.

"But I'm not presuming that I'll get elected as chair, it's for the board to decide."
