Great Win For The Lads Said Green

Hereford FC defender Ryan Green felt that today's FA Vase Tie at Hartley Wintney had been 'a great win for the lads'.

"Big performance in terrible conditions, totally deserved the win," Green told BN.

"It has proved to people that we can play on poor pitches, good pitches, anything.

"Everyone put a good shift in."

Green was sent off along with Hartley's Ross Cook during the second half.

Earlier Cook was heard making remarks about Green's country of birth.

"Sending off, I left my foot in a little bit, I shouldn't really have reacted. I'll miss three games.

"But we've got a strong squad with the players that have come in.

"Jamie Willets has done fantastic all season, he'll come in and do a great job."

Green will be able to play next Saturday and the following Tuesday but will miss the FA Vase game against Camberley on February 20th.

As the fixtures stand, Green will also miss the home game against Highgate on February 23rd and the HFA Cup Tie against Kington on March 1st.

Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle also spoke about the sending offs in his post match interview.

"I didn't see too much in the challenge," said Beadle.

"I know they both had their feet high but I know that certainly their 10 (Cook) was niggling all through the game and that why the crowd were on his case.

"Maybe he didn't quite have full control of himself.

"It was a coming together, they both had their feet up.

"I think it's harsh in a game of this magnitude to send players off. I know the lad went down but he got up and he was fine.

"May be the occassion was too much for him because he was on the edge throughout the game. Forwards play on the edge sometimes but he needs to focus more on his game because he certainly showed he's a good player. He's a handful, quick and dynamic.

"We're disappointed because Ryan won't play in the quarter finals, he'll be suspended for that one which is a shame and being a straight red it will probably be three games which is disappointing.

"But we have to get on with it, we've got more than capable players waiting to come in as Jamie come in and showed today."
