The agreement between Hereford FC and Ady Watts - http://www.herefordfc.co.uk/hereford-fc-agrees-gym-partnership-with-personal-trainer-ady-watts/ - for him to open a gym at Edgar Street puts extra pressure on Herefordshire Council to extend the lease on the stadium which, currently, is for just five years.
Whilst it's not made clear in the club's statement, it's assumed that some of the work involved will be paid for by the club.
'New showers and toilets are being installed to ensure the facilities on site are up fit for purpose' surely suggests expenditure by the club.
The principle behind a 'new' gym which will be open to the public is to be welcomed as it points to Edgar Street being used on days other than matchdays.
And that has to be the way to go. Prime sites in middle of large towns/cities can not be justified for just football once a fortnight.
Adding more facilities to the Edgar Street site will make it that much more difficult for the Council to refuse a longer lease.
