Two Hereford 'Supporters' Thrown Out From Lye Town Ground

The Lye Town chairman Brian Blackmore has confirmed that two Hereford FC 'supporters' were thrown out of the ground on Saturday.

Just before half-time there appeared to be some trouble near the changing rooms.

This is how it has been reported by the Dudley News.

If the presence of hi-vis jacketed stewards – borrowed from neighbouring Stourbridge FC – had seemed a novelty for the usual smattering of home fans, it was a precaution which sadly proved necessary as fighting broke out near the changing rooms towards the end of the first half, with suspended Lye player Sam Beasley at one point in the thick of an affray with what appeared to be a handful of visiting fans.

“It was a classic case of people having too much to drink on a long drive from Hereford,” said Lye chairman Brian Blakemore in the immediate aftermath, having played an admirably prominent role as peacemaker as tensions ran high and a gaggle of Hereford’s largely well-behaved supporters tried to police their own errant members.
Blakemore later confirmed the police had been called and two visiting supporters were ejected from the ground and his attempts to keep the day memorable for the right reasons meant he saw precious little of Lye’s sterling second-half performance.
