Today's Attendance At Edgar Street Is A Midland League Record

Today's attendance of 4381 at Edgar Street was a Midland League record. It 'beat' the previous record of 4060 who watched Hereford FC's opening game against Dunkirk.

It's thought about 80 Westfields supporters watched the game but this number is difficult to confirm.

Should that number of away fans be correct then 4301 home supporters at a Boxing Day match is the highest for many years.

As well as being the top Midland League gate, it's thought only Wrexham with a gate of 5508 had a higher attendance in Non-league Football this afternoon.

Hereford manager Peter Beadle remains 'amazed' at the numbers.

"I'm amazed every week when there's over 2000 here especially for where we are," said Beadle.

"A lot of credit for that goes to the players.

"If we weren't where we are, and we weren't doing what we are doing and if we didn't play the way we play maybe we wouldn't have as many people interested in what we are doing.

"Boxing Day is an English football tradition but to have that crowd behind you, it's got to be uplifting, especially the way we played today and obviously to get the goal at the Meadow End and a couple in the second half.

"Everyone goes home and this has hopefully made their Christmas today because this has been the cherry on the cake.

"Their team has played well, their team has been excellent and disciplined, they've scored three goals at home, they've kept a another clean sheet and we hopefully we can perform to the same standard on Monday."

Meanwhile today's victory meant that Hereford have now won 24 games on the trot.
