Seven For Youth Team

Hereford FC Under 18's defeated Worcester City under 18s 7-0 this evening in the Midland floodlight league.

The first half was difficult as both sides got used to the playing surface. Hereford had numerous chances to open the scoring. Tom Gameson came close but fired his shot and  not long after with another couple of opportunities but both chances went over bar. Gameson came close again but his shot was deflected wide by the Worcester keeper. Moreira was next to come close for Hereford as his freekick hit the crossbar.  Hereford opened the scoring in the 25th minute when a poor clearance from the City keeper fell to a Hereford player who was able to play a ball through to Oxley who then slotting the ball in to the back of the net. Hereford continued to try and double the lead but were unable to convert several chances. Hereford went in at half time leading by the single goal.

At Half time Hereford's manager Jamie Pitman decided to tweak his tactics. Those tweaks appeared to have an immediate effect as Sam Oxley scored his and Hereford's second 2 minutes after the restart. A ball across the box fell to Oxley who was able to fire the ball past the city keeper. A few minutes later Oxley found himself clear but his shot went wide. Oxley had another chance not long after following some good passing he shot wide. Hereford's third came in the 68th minute when Morriera slotted the ball in to the net following a lofted shot from Huntbach over the stranded keeper. Hereford increased the lead in the 74 minute as Hereford manage to wrestle the ball from City defenders and onto Huntbach who was able to beat the oncoming goalkeeper. 

In 79th minute Oxley broke through and got past 2 players before composing himself to hit his third goal of the game. Hereford's final two goals came in the last 5 minutes of the game. Tom Gameson got on the scoresheet in the 86th minute as he finished off another Hereford attack. Alex Lancett finished the scoring in the 88th minute as he broke down the right handside before cutting inside and slotting a ball past the keeper.
