Despite playing towards the Meadow End in the first half for the first time for several weeks, Hereford FC took most of the half to opening the scoring against Westfields this afternoon.
Manager Peter Beadle described it as 'patient but productive' football.
"Today's been an excellent performance on many levels that we haven't reached in recent weeks, said the Hereford FC manager in his post match press conference.
"I thought the discipline and the shape of the team was excellent. I thought the football we played was patient but productive because we were constantly probing.
"We had chances and defensively I thought we were excellent all across the pitch.
"The end results, 3-0 and a clean sheet, you can't for no more.
"I would like to think we are now actually gaining a bit more momentum, I think we've lost it a little bit recently, but been lucky enough to get results.
"Today I thought we throughly deserved what we got and maybe more. But 3-0 at home on a derby game on Boxing Day you can't ask for more."
About about the players performing in front of such a large crowd, Beadle replied that the crowd has been great all year.
"It's double what we've been used to but we spoke on Tuesday about this being the time of year when it counts, making sure we do things properly and professionally as we can do and we can bring them in, we can work, we can train, we can coach but a lot of it is down to them.
"If they prepare properly throughout the week, prepare for every game, then we are always going to give ourselves a chance and it's quite easy sometimes to fall in the trap of having the extra beer or glass of champagne at Christmas but we have to be disciplined and I thought that showed today in the way they went about their business. I thought from 1 to 11 and the ones that came on I thought were excellent."
Beadle felt that Westfields had come with a game plan.
"That was to frustrate and you could see the first couple of balls that went behind the goal the keeper took his time bringing it out. That's fine.
"But I just think that if you come and do that with us with the players we've got, it's only going to be a matter of time. You are going to have to be extremely disciplined and lucky and well organised to keep us out if you are going to defend like that for ninety minutes.
"The interesting thing was when we got the goal, if we could have got a second one before half-time I'm sure they would have come out and maybe changed a little bit.
"When the second one went in it was really about if they opened up, could we then go and cause them more problems and I think we would have done.
"But as it was we were extremely patient, extremely disciplined and I was really pleased with what they done today."
Beadle was reminded by interviewer Keith Hall that John Mills will get all the plaudits after scoring a hat-trick.
"We've got players all across the pitch, you look at our front four today and then you look who we have on the bench. And look at Nathan (Hughes) sat in the stand who can't get in the 16 today. We've got players who will always score goals, but without hard work and the displine of the team behind them, the back four were awesome today, Martin was excellent in goal, made a couple of important stops, made a great save in the second half.
"All the players are backed up by one another and those that come on support them as well.
"Mills does exactly what it says on the tin, he gets his goals. But as I've said before he works extremely hard for the team as well. There were a couple today when he's tracked forty or fifty yards to get back. He plays his part in the team.
"Every player out there is different. We don't have two players that are the same so that's why they are good together because they are a good combination.
"Mills is great at finishing, he's got good set up play, defensively and back to goal isn't may be his strongest but he's okay.
"Others, Simmo back to goals is his strong point but even so he can score goals.
"As a team we've been great today, I've been really pleased what they have done. Mills will get the plaudits because he got his second hat-trick on Boxing Day but he knows without the rest of the team it doesn't happen."
