Darlington 1883 have reported a loss of £800 on turnover of £340,000 for last season. Turnover was up 18% on the year before despite attendances dropping by 25%, finishing the season as play-off winners to move up to the Northern Premier League. They also report no debt but only £10,000 of nearly £300,000 in the bank isn't ringfenced for their much delayed return to the town of Darlington, with their current facilities ineligible for further promotions.
Cambridge City's new ground will be further delayed after the decision to allow planning permission was called in for a judicial review. The original decision was made in June 2014, and later ratified by the local Council despite recommendations to reject. Local residents claim the plans will see a substantial number of trees cut down to make way for the 3,000 capacity stadium. The club, homeless since 2013, had hoped to be in the completed stadium by the summer of next year.
The contractors working on the redevelopment of Northampton's Sixfields ground have told the club's Supporters Trust their contract was for only £4million and not the original £8million design for the new East Stand. Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd say they received only £441,917 in payments and were owed a further £1.8million when they ceased work in September 2014.
They then agreed with Cobblers' chairman David Cardoza to return to site the following March that Cardoza's company County Developments (CDNL) would cover the full cost of the works including the money owed - but they never received a penny, leading to the current winding-up petition against CDNL for a total sum just short of £3million. The petition will be heard on Thursday.
FC United of Manchester have rejected a request from the BBC to move their FA Cup fixture with Sporting Khalsa. FC United, who were formed partly as a protest to TV companies moving games without consideration to supporters, rejected the request to turn the match into a “brand new BBC Mobile Match of The Day Live experience”.
