Beadle Unhappy With Performance Despite Win

After this afternoon's 1-0 win the FA Vase at Bardon Hill, Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle spoke about the game.

"We've achieved getting into the next round, we've kept a clean sheet, that's a positive for us," said Beadle.

"But the rest of it, the sooner we forget about it the better.

"It wasn't good enough standard wise for us.

"I think we made poor decisions in good areas of the pitch.

"We lacked some real enthusiasm today.

"But at the end of the day there's a bigger picture to this as well.

"It's not just about winning every game and going into the next round, there is a bigger picture of progression and I want to see us progress week in week out.

"Today we've taken a step backwards, a big step backwards in performance.

"Alright we've got the win but the performance was nowhere near where it should be."

Although Hereford had a few chances in the first period it was goal-less at half time.

"And if we've had played a better team, no disrespect to Bardon, if we've had played a team with a little bit more quality we could have found ourselves two or three down."

The only goal of the game came when Hereford were awarded a penalty after Pablo Haysham was brought down.

"I didn't think it was a penalty. So we've got away with it. But that's not going to happen every week.

"As good as we've been you are only as good as your last game and we were poor today, extremely poor.

"It's the same team that played exceptionally well at Walsall Wood on Tuesday and exceptional well the week before that.

"It's about maintaining the standards and it wasn't about the pitch not beeing condusive to playing nice football, it was more about the fact that to me we looked laboured, we looked a yard short of where we should be and that's not good enough.

"We've got players who are waiting to come in and we're happy to change things around if people drop their standards and it won't happen for more than a game. It is does we'll change it.

"If you want to stay in this team then you do the basics and the basics are when you turn up you put a shift in. All across the pitch today we lacked a little bit."
