Stourport Look Forward To Visit Of Hereford FC

Stourport Swifts are looking forward to the visit of Hereford FC tomorrow evening.

The game should boost the bank balance of the Swifts given a gate of over 1,000 is expected which will be well over their current record gate of 640.

“It’s very much an unknown quantity for us and, with it being Hereford’s first competitive away match, their club don’t know how many fans will be coming," Stourport general manager John McDonald told the Worcester News.

"We are going to be catering for between 1,200 and 1,500 and are bringing in between six and eight stewards and hiring extra toilets.”
They won their first game of the season at Rocester last Saturday by 2-0. Ben Maund scored both goals.

Afterwards Swifts manager Mark Phillips was reported to be delighted with the result.

"After a competitive first half, we took control after the break and looked strong as Rocester seemed to struggle in the heat" said Phillips.

"We kept going to the end, and were unfortunate not to get a couple more.

"Hereford will be a tough test on Tuesday night, but we will be full of confidence and ready to give it a good go".
