Hereford Football Supporters have been mentioned in the House of Commons as a bill was introduced designed to give football fans a greater say in running their clubs.
The measure if passed would give supporters the right to buy at least 10% of the club's shares if the club changed ownership. They would also be able to elect at least a quarter of the board members.
Labour's sports spokesperson Clive Effold, who sponsored the bill, praised the work of Hereford United fans who kept the club alive when it was wound-up last year.
"We think of Hereford who’ve currently been resurrected by fans, Portsmouth, Swansea, the remarkable story of AFC Wimbledon," said Effold.
"They
all have one thing in common that football fans have had to step in and
save their local club when the owners have destroyed it.”
