East Midlands Counties League winners Bardon Hill have finally been told they will compete in the Midland Football League this coming season.
Bardon Hill won the title on goal difference, beating Ellistown & Ibstock 6-1 in their final game, and should have been told of their placing on May 14th. However their notification was 'lost in the system' and they have only been confirmed as part of the MFL today.
Bardon Hill are based near Coalville in Leicestershire, a few hundred yards from a massive quarry.
Meanwhile, seven sides have been shifted about in the wake of Clevedon's demotion from the Southern League. Two of them, Flackwell Heath and Marlow, have openly criticised their moves after the Buckinghamshire sides were transferred from the Central division to South & West.
Flackwell boss Graham Malcolm told the Bucks Free Press the club was only planning on using coaches to three away games in the Central division, but would now need fourteen at £600 each:
"I'm devastated - it doesn't make sense at all. It could completely finish three clubs. Financially we couldn't play in the South and West division - we couldn't afford to travel to the games.
"I couldn't manage in that league. I haven't got the time to travel just under 4,000 miles a year for a club of our size. I couldn't do it, it's just a nightmare."
