Later today Hereford FC are set to find out in which league the new club will play this coming season.
Because Hereford United folded last December without completing their fixtures in the Southern League, the rules suggest that the new club will start their football in a league two steps lower.
However the rule is not set in stone and representatives of Hereford FC have met with the FA on several occasions to try and persuade them to consider placing the club in a higher division.
Amidst other points put forward by the club will be its potential support, its budget, the fact that Hereford United had already been demoted two divisions last season and the way the new club has been set-up with its promise not to live beyond its means.
It is also possible that the West Mercia police may have been asked to comment on the size of the potential away following of the new club.
Whilst it is hoped that the FA will have found a place for the new club in as high a division as possible, that may not have happened and the club might be placed in the same league as neighbours Westfields.
