Volunteers Thanked For Weekend Work At Edgar Street

Two days of spring-cleaning at Edgar Street by volunteers have made a big impression on commercial director George Webb.

"I would like to place on record my thanks to every single volunteer who has helped out at Edgar Street this weekend, and on our previous clean-up day," commented Webb.

"Arriving at the ground on Saturday morning and seeing more than twenty volunteers ready and willing to give up their day to help spruce our ground up – knowing full well that much of the work would be difficult and dirty – really humbled me.

"The work continued today and over the weekend our volunteers have cleaned rotten food from the kiosks, cleared weeds, swept and sorted rubbish, cleaned toilets, lugged old or damaged furniture around and thrown themselves into many, many other jobs that we need help with.

Ken Kinnersley
"Directed by my hero, and the priceless legend that is Ken Kinnersley, not one person moaned about any task given to them – in fact it seemed they took joy from being able to undertake the most horrible jobs to clean our stadium up."

Webb also had some words for Rob Bullock who has been at the club desk selling season tickets.

"Rob has repeatedly manned the desk selling season tickets on a voluntary basis over the past few weeks, greeting every customer with a smile, and a welcome that is incredibly heart-warming when you hear him talk about ‘his’ club."

Meanwhile the club has said that the Railway Club, which is the venue for the Fans Forum on May 20th, can hold around 200 supporters. This is somewhat more than originally reported.
