Hereford FC Club Secretary, Martin Watson, has today spoken to the club’s official website and given an update on the search to find the club’s first manager. He said:
“We completed the first round of interviews about ten days ago and then put a hold on things for a few days to focus on season ticket sales and see how they went.
"They’ve gone exceptionally well – for more that 400 to be sold in just a week is phenomenal considering we still have no certainty about which league we will play in, no sense of who will be in the playing squad or who will be manager, and also taking into account the fact that we still haven’t got a phone line or have card payment facilities available.
“I can, however, confirm that we booked second interviews for the final two candidates on Thursday night and that they will take place early next week. We then intend to make a decision on who our favoured candidate is soon after the second interviews.
‘Throughout the process we’ve made it clear to all the candidates that our club is to be run on a sustainable basis, and that we’re not a cash cow. Even though season ticket sales are higher than our cautious target, we have not altered the budget at present, as any change would depend on many more income streams than that.
‘And importantly, it is vital the candidates demonstrate that they can work within the budgets set out and how they will achieve the desired targets.
“In addition to searching for a manager, we are also in the process of assembling the pre-season schedule and should be able to announce further fixtures shortly.
‘It’s a massive jigsaw of slotting in your desired games around the plans of other teams, but I’m pleased to report we’re receiving requests from sides up and down the country on a daily basis.”
