Former Hereford United player Ricky George spoke to The Non-League Paper about Hereford United being wound up on Friday.
“There’s a bit of relief there. I thought it was inconceivable they could let it go to another adjournment. That was prolonging the agony.
“It’s really desperate, even this is what the Supporters’ Trust wanted, because this was the only eventuality if they were to keep who got involved away from the development of the ground or whatever else they may want to do.”
When the article moved onto the future of Edgar Street, George added:
“They’ve got to negotiate with the council the use of Edgar Street. If they are to rise from the flames like Aldershot did, that’ll be massive.
“I know Ronnie Radford has been down, Colin Addison still lives in Hereford and even though the players are spread far and wide, I’m sure they would all lend their support if it’s useful in a practical way. I certainly would.”
Martin Watson, vice-chairman of HUST, also spoke to The NLP:
“I’ve been in daily contact with Supporters Direct for almost two years and now it’s time for us to step up.
“The club had to fold and to have a future. The Hereford United supporters will rebuild it as a community club.”
