Steve Harris has posted the following to the Hereford Times website:
HUFC, tale of an ex-fan
At the end of last season we answered the call
Not knowing back then how the mighty would fall
By pulling together the club had survived
The last game was won and the spirit revived
But then the new ‘owners’ arrived from the smoke
Their promises empty whenever they spoke
It seems that the club had been bought for a pound
They talked of the football but wanted the ground
They claimed with ‘their’ money the problems would cease
But first with the council, they talked of the lease
Tales of collusion and calls to confess
Bled from the rumours and into the press
We fell from the conference because of the debt
The terms of inclusion were simply not met
Rubbish was spoken, more promises made
So many good people remaining unpaid
The ‘wind ups’ continued but little was spent
Adjournments and promises just came and went
The boycott continues, the crowds are now sparse
Our once famous club is now viewed as a farce
It’s moved beyond football and watching them play
It’s part of our city whatever ‘they’ say
Development beckons, at least that’s the word
Their claims to love football are clearly absurd
Recalling John Charles and Ron’s wonderful goal
The fans had such spirit, the club had such soul
Back then we all followed when down or when up
With ‘Hereford’ spirit in league and in cup
The doubters may say it’s just men and a ball
But the ground and the city belong to us all
It seems there’s no help from the powers-that-be
The governing bodies forget you and me
Who cares about owners who just don’t belong
We’ve given them chances to prove us all wrong
Alas, its apparent they’ll have the last say
And no doubt go on till the clubs worth FA
