Hereford United chairman Andy Lonsdale says the club has now paid the rent on Edgar Street.
However this may not be sufficient to stop Herefordshire Council from taking back the leases, with leader Tony Johnson telling the press "We are not prepared to put up with this anymore" and they had been "messed around for too long".
Lonsdale's statement:
The Club would like to inform all of its loyal supporters that the rent due to be paid to Herefordshire Council, was paid today the 24th October directly into their account via CHAPS or same day payment.
We apologise for any delay in payment of the rent and legal fees, due to a consortium being led by a previous owner in court on Monday we have had to reassess the current situation. This was an unexpected event and we had no prior warning of their intentions, we will be defending our position vigorously.
Our intentions have been and will remain to be the same; we are wholly committed to producing a good level of football at Edgar Street.
We apologise for the turmoil this is causing among the fans and would like to reiterate that we are working towards solving all the problems Hereford United Football Club (1939) Ltd are facing. We will strive to get this football club back on an even keel.
