Agombar And The £7m Promise Of Investment

Tommy Agombar told HUST Chairman Chris Williams that he had £7million to invest in Hereford United when he first arrived at the club.

Williams revealed the figure to last Thursday's HUST AGM, also published on the HUST site here (link), telling the audience: 'Initially we engaged with the new owners, they said they had money to spent, (£7m.) they said they would get us back into the league in two years and they were going to set up a professional structure with a style of football people would want to come and watch.

'Unfortunately, they then started having meetings with the Council and asked for the leases to be taken into other companies of the then owner Tommy Agombar. When challenged he told me not to worry about it – it was just for efficiency … At this point we offered to buy the club again but they declined.'

The £7m figure was also told to HUST by David Keyte at the meeting to discuss their offer for the club in early May.
