Chesham Boss Wants Tighter Financial Rules

Southern League Premier side Chesham's manager has spoken out about the uncertainty that Hereford United's situation brings to the league.

The SLP ended up one club short last season with Hinckley going bust. Andy Leese told the Bucks Free Press that he found the situation at Edgar Street 'frustrating' and that tighter financial regulation should be brought in to ensure clubs can see out the season:

"It's frustrating. I understand they have to find a league and it's great we've got a full complement of teams.

"But I've said it before there ought to be a system where, every quarter, clubs who are serious about what they do should be submitting financial statements to the league to outline where they are and whether they have the money to make the halfway point, or the end.

"From day one it can be handled better if there were better financial management practices in place. They [Hereford] are going to have to do something pretty serious just to get the season going. It's far from ideal. It distorts the league table, like it did last year with Hinckley.

"The uncertainty is just baffling. I don't know why, with the way financial management is now, it can't be sorted to everyone's satisfaction."

The paper, which also covers Wycombe Wanderers, notes that the Bulls played the League Two side in league action in 2011 but will now face Chesham just three years later.
