Business Group Wants Football To Stay At Edgar Street Says Hale

Jon Hale, leader of the local businessmen who might step in to take over Hereford United if the club goes into liquidation, has said that there is a lot of anger in the supporters base at Edgar Street.

"It's so sad that such a fantastic supporter base has been treated with such comtempt," Hale told BBC Hereford and Worcester this afternoon.

"This club may not continue.

"We have no idea what the end game is for the current owner (Agombar)

"We've put together a plan which we've taken to the Council and to the Supporters Trust.

"We've said if this club does get wound up this is where we think we should go.

"Behind our group of businessmen we have a group of local investors who have already over-written £150K to start a new club and since we went public with this idea ten days ago we've had more expressions from local investors.

"We're all football people, we're all  Hereford United football people, we want to see the club succeed, may be not in its current format.

"We're all about keeping football at Edgar Street at the heart of the city.

"I know there is an appetite within Herefordshire and the wider community for a football club in Hereford playing at Edgar Street.

"We believe that if we can give the supporters a club to be really proud of, really get hold of, then I think supporters will soon get behind us.

"We think we can make a real success of this if we have the Council and the wider community working with the people of Herefordshire to really produce a sustainable community led, supporter led football club."
