News Round-Up

Grimsby have confirmed that Paul Hurst will remain as manager for next season. The decision comes after Hurst met with the board to discuss their failings this season. Lincoln have triggered clauses in the contracts of defender Nat Brown and midfielder Todd Jordan, but boss Gary Simpson says he is not in a position to offer deals to other out of contract players until the levels of season ticket sales are known so that the board can tell him a fixed budget.

Welling have announced that 11 of their squad have agreed to stay on next season. The number includes top scorer Ross Lafayette, but youngster Kurtis Guthrie has turned down a new offer. Club Captain Lee Clarke and defender Jack Obersteller have both been released. Clarke made nearly 200 appearances for the Wings, while Obersteller racked up over 150.

Nuneaton have signed defender Connor Frankin from Alfreton for the coming season. The full back previously played for the Boro before their financial problems, and made 29 appearances for the Reds this term. Torquay boss Chris Hargreaves says he transfer listed Jordan Chapell and Nathan Craig as the pair were homesick. Both players have failed to settle in Devon and want to return north.

Former Bulls keeper Wayne Brown will not have a playing role at current club Oxford next season. The 37 year old remains in talks over a coaching role after serving as player/coach for three years. Telford have confirmed the signing of Southport defender Steve Akrigg, and also added Witton winger Josh Hancock for the coming season. Akrigg is the 16th ex-Sandgrounder to follow Liam Watson to Telford.
