We Didn't Stick To Game Plan Admits Beadle

Peter Beadle
Hereford United manager Peter Beadle was disappointed that the team had a game plan for the match against Gateshead but didn't stick to it.

"First half I thought we gave them too much respect," Beadle told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"We had a game plan, we didn't take it on board.

"We didn't execute it at all well and we made it very difficult for ourselves.

"Second half we did better, one cleared off the line, another half chance, Smith had a chance.

"We could have got something from the game.

"Second half I thought we were far more comfortable. For all their possession second half, they never really hurt us as such.

"But by then the damage was done.

"Goals win games and they got the one.

"We've huffed and puffed a little bit, not quite as slick as we have been recently.

"Certainly first half we looked very dis-jointed and a little bit all over the place, second half we worked ourselves into the game and got stronger and stronger as the game went on.

"But sometimes it's too late."

Beadle started youngsters Billy Murphy and Jarrod Bowen.

"Tough one for them today.

"I thought Jarrod looked tired, maybe it's starting to take its toll on him now.

"Remember the boy is 17, he's been excellent for four games. May be this was one game too far for him.

"His effort was fantastic but he did look a little bit tired today. We'll consider what we do with him for Friday to keep him fresh because I think he's a valuable member of the team now.

Billy Murphy
"Billy it was a tough one for him because they had three very good players in there, one with Premier League experience. So it was a good learning curve for Billy.

"Effort and committment spot on. Things he could be better at which we've talked about.  He did not let anybody down by any means."
