The Buzz Has Returned Said Purdie

Rob Purdie Played At Right Back
Rob Purdie was with Hereford United ten or so years ago when the football was good and the supporters appreciated it. Now it's come back.

"Last week at the home game when we scored a goal it was the first time I've had that buzz that we used to have in the Conference when we were doing well," Purdie told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"To hear the fans today, it just shows this club can not go.

"It's massive for the town and it's so big for these supporters. There's so many hard-core supporters here.

"It's been a very bad season both on the pitch and off the pitch but hopefully, at least for 24 hours, we've got something to celebrate.

"This will be the greatest moment of my career because of the circumstances.

"The highlight was to get promoted from the Conference but this will be the greatest moment I think because of the sheer joy, the last minute and then we hear the crowd go because Salisbury have scored.

"It's going to be a massive memory for me.

"As a club we need to celebrate staying in the Conference because it's huge for Hereford United.

"But we can't lose track that Hereford sholudn't have been in the position they're in.

"Come Monday morning fans from the office staff, the boardroom and the dressing room must make sure this doesn't happen to Hereford United again.

"We can't lose track of that."

As to Purdie's future?

"I would like to be involved but what's the board going to be, who is going to be manager, everything like that.

"It's probably going to take a month or six weeks before all that's sorted out."

And Pete Beadle?

"He's come in and has a slightly different philosophy and it's taken us a while to change things same as Richard O'Kelly in the League.

"With Rich it was slightly too late, today with Salisbury/Chester going for us whereas Barnet didn't.

"It's been so enjoyable under Beads. He done brilliantly. The lads love him. He's a friend as well as a manager but he can be tough with us.

"I hope there's not too much change in that department but it's all up in the air.

"We'll celebrate this and hopefully look forward to some better years with Hereford."
