Hereford United director Dave Preedy has told the Hereford Journal that the publicity from offer by comedian Omid Djalili to help the Bulls has helped swell the amount raised.
"He is huge name nationwide and he heard about the club's plight thanks to supporter Kaddie Rae, of our student supporters association, contacting him over Twitter.
"When he rang up and said 'I am free on Sunday, can I perform to help you' we were completely overwhelmed.
"I'm sure the tickets will sell like hotcakes and we are hopeful we can raise £10K towards the fund.
"It is creating a snowball effect too.
"Since then other people are coming forward to help, it is humbling to see.
"We've received money from the fans of Crystal Palace, Luton Town and FC United of Manchester.
"If I can make a plea it would be 'this is a club which brings a lot to the city and we hope we can survive."
Preedy also revealed that both Swansea City and Sunderland will have bucket collections for the Bulls this week.
UPDATED: This evening Dave Preedy has said that the Bulls now need between £16K and £20K to get to the £78K required to pay HMRC by Monday.
